The theme for Hui Fono 2019 is Islands in the S.T.R.E.A.M. The theme will uncover the fundamental subject areas of science, technology, relationships, engineering, arts and mathematics in education, making it explicit in Māori and Pasifika knowledge and practice. A key objective for the Hui Fono is to help our community and whanau understand what STEM/STEMM/STEAM/STREAM is as subjects, and locate each subject area in a cultural context, give an experience of it in action, and to encourage ideas for informing changed (improved) teaching and learning practice.
